My mother makes doll houses. A small village fills her guest room, wall to wall. If you sleep on the pull out couch, you have to be very careful you exit on the right side, lest you end up in a bathroom the size of a milk carton.
The University of Virginia is doing pretty much the same with the entire city of Rome, except you probably can’t sleep there. The time is June 21, 320 A.D. There are digital models and real mock-ups.

The model is easily modified, just in case some new archaeology brings a murky area to light.
But what’s really amazing is that there is enough data still in existence to do such a thing.
