Iraqi Art at the Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome

Humans have a tendency on occasion to layer thick gobs of arbitrary hate over “the other,” and with a very broad brush indeed. I think it’s a great idea to get to know a culture through contemporary artists to counter this tendency, and that’s the motivation behind an exhibition organized by the Italian Foreign Ministry’s Task Force Iraq, in collaboration with the Contemporary Visual Arts Society (CVAS), the first major Iraqi cultural organization set up after the US invasion in 2003.

It’s inside the Castel Sant’Angelo, seen below. Here is visitor information. When in Rome, go see some art from the cradle of civilization, Mesopotamia. When the exhibition ends, the place is makes a great visit where you can eat with a great view.
