Whenever I read forums about travel to Italy, I’m always amazed at the things people plan. Like 14 cities in 10 days. Or a 2-hour stopover in Pisa to see the architectural embarrassment called the leaning tower.
Ok, so as a travel writer, you have to cater to these (insane) demands, don’t you?
Well, ok so Gloria Cappelli, who wrote a very nice guide to see the best of Pisa will be appalled, but I’ve mapped out a route for you to hop off a train, gawk at the leaning tower like everyone else, and get back to the train station so you can jump off and see something else.
But for those of you who would like to explore Pisa, I’ve managed, with a little help from my friend Susan Van Allen of 100 Places in Italy Every Woman Should Go fame to get an insider’s view of this fantastic city. See: Pisa, Where to Eat and Stay.
And when you go, be sure to visit the Historic Ships Museum.
By the way, they’ve had the audacity to put the leaning tower about as far away from the train station as they possibly could. What were the ancients thinking?!
Anyway, here it is: Video: Getting from Pisa Train Station to the Leaning Tower in a Hurry
Enjoy.
