There are folks who go nuts over chocolate. As far as I can tell, they’re mostly of the female persuasion. So on Sunday, I wasn’t surprised that Martha ordered something chocolate after her meal at Osteria del Borgo in Massa.
She ordered Chocolate Flan. I was thinking, “Geez, how could she pick the most boring-sounding dish on the menu.” But the waiter beamed as if the two of them had a shared secret and I wasn’t part of it.
So then it came:
Yes, warm chocolate oozing out over a shimmering sea of creme Anglaise.
The Osteria del Borgo is on Via Beatrice 17/19 in Massa. It’s closed on Tuesday. There are lots of artisanal beers from which to choose, as well as some good wines by the glass. The roast suckling pig was wonderful, and the salad came without tomatoes, as is right and proper in the spring when tomatoes taste like cardboard. Recommended.
