The 2009 Truffle Season in Italy

You know what truffles go best with? Scrambled eggs, preferably Italian eggs, with their rich, orange yolks. So that’s why I’m thinking about truffles in the morning.

Well, that and the fact that @loveumbria has been twittering photos of this year’s bumper truffle crop in Umbria. I mean they go out for an hour and come back with a kilo of black gold—that’s nuts (in a tasty and good way, of course).

They can take you along on one of their fungus expeditions too. If you desire to go on one hot, sexy weekend jaunt, I figure you can’t go wrong anywhere the erotic odors of truffles are known to waft. See here: Truffle Hunting Weekend in Umbria, Tuscany and Le Marche

Now I can’t wait for fall’s truffle festivals to commence. San Miniato, I’m a comin’…
