Weather and Woe in the Toe

Well, in the whole boot, really. First there’s bad recession news for Italy, then the word that:

Forecasters say the severe winter weather that has battered Italy will continue into the weekend.

The storm has flooded much of Venice and dumped heavy snow in the north, increasing the risk of avalanche.

I’m in California right now instead of the Lunigiana. It’s probably a good thing. We haven’t had our normal winter rains. Right now it’s 65 degrees and sunny. I’ll take that for the middle of December, warmed by the thought off all those big names signing up for the hundredth running of the Giro d’Italia, which we hope to see this spring.
