A Staycation in the Lunigiana?

Just as World Hum declares the staycation dead, I’m looking forward to one.

Well, maybe it’s not that traditional (and yes, quite idiotic in principle) staycation. I’m staying at my second house in Italy. (Yes, I have two, and I know how many I have because I can count them on the fingers of one hand, unlike certain filthy rich presidential candidates here in the US.)

It’s the best of all staycations. I stay local. I eat local. I’m even making a video about the inadvertent locavores in my little village. Yes, there was even a contract signed. You’ll see it here.

I’m excited. You usually don’t get excited about staying home and eating with the neighbors, do you? Well, if you like good food and had a house in the Lunigiana, maybe you could be excited too.

The interesting thing is that there are seemingly decent homes you can buy in the Lunigiana that even I have lusted after on occasion, nice homes listed for under 100,000 Euro.

You see, prices are dropping. Not “like a rock” or like a Stelle Statue or anything. But dropping noticeably just as the Euro drops a smidge.

Is it time to buy? I dunno. But what I do know is that I’m looking forward to settling down in my little rural village in the Lunigiana with a glass of inexpensive local wine and I’m counting the days.

Nine.
